THE DISAPPEARED
102 x 102cm. Acrylic on Canvas. 1998. In 1998 a group of Chilean nationals hammered crosses into the grass in front of the Houses of Parliament, each one representing one of those who had 'disappeared' during the repressive years of the Pinochet regime. This painting was made from a moving newspaper image that I came across of one of the women participating in this quiet act of grievance and demonstration.
